Today we had an assigned project to create a black friday sale poster.

I decided to do one for Hot Topic and this is how it turned out:

blackfridaysale

I got the hot topic logo from google, then I transformed it. I got the background photo from google as well and I changed the opacity to 55%. I got the font from dafont.com and typed the words. I got a black rectangle image from google, made the opacity very low, free transformed it to fit behind a group of words, then duplicated and free transformed 6 other rectangles to go behind all the other groups of words.

After I finished, I started a new project:

selpportrait

I used the paint brush and pencil tools to create this. I also got the image of the rose and diamond from google.

Today was a project day and I continued to work on the project I started wednesday.

What I had so far:

scene

Finished:

scenefinished

I used the paint brush, pencil, eraser, and blur tools to make this. For the shirt I got a galaxy image, copy and pasted underneath the girl outline, chose the quick selection tool and selected just the are of the shirt. I copied it, deleted the galaxy layer, then pressed cmd+v to paste the galaxy print into the shirt. I made the background using the same colors as the girls hair but at different opacities.

I started and finished another project using the same theme:

pastelgirl

I painted all of this except the skulls I copied them from google, pasted, then transformed them.

Today I worked on getting together a blog post of all my favorite work. I chose 6 different projects that I had completed. I included progress pictures of each painting. Which actually took quite a bit of time because I’d open the image in photoshop, turn layers off and on then save each progress picture as a jpeg file in order to post it.  After doing that with each project I made a short description of them.

Favorite Work

I used the drawing tablet to create all of these projects.

I used 4 different layers and I used the pencil tool for the outline, then the paint brush tool for everything else. The main trick for creating the sky was adjusting the opacity of the paint brush constantly.

I usually start with drawing hair because its the easiest and funnest part for me. I used the paint brush tool for all of this while adjusting the size and opacity of the brush.

This is Austin Carlile from the band Of Mice & Men. He was my first realistic painting. I only worked in 4 layers and the hardest part of painting this was the tattoos.

I decided to paint Coraline near Halloween time. I worked in 5 layers with this one and my favorite part was making the background. All I used was the paint brush tool.

This is Fuzzy. I started with his face because that’s where I wanted the most detail. After working on the face and body of Fuzzy ,using the paintbrush and pencil tools, I worked on the background by using a grey brush with a very low opacity. I got the font from a website then changed the color to red and changed the size to how I liked it. Then I took the pencil tool and marked over the letters to make them messier.

This is Melanie Martinez, who is my favorite singer at the moment. I didn’t work in a lot of layers for this one but my favorite part was drawing the hair using the pencil and paintbrush tools. The hardest part of this was the face but it was a really fun and colorful project.

Today we went to the career center. When we got back we had to redo our koozies and print them. I like the way mine turned out. After that I started a new painting  project.

All I’ve used so far is the paintbrush and eraser tools.

Today we had an assigned project to complete. We made koozies, which is a fun word to say.

I decided to make an Of Mice & Men band koozie.

velcro-cupholder

I got the shell image from google. I also got the Of mice & Men logo and words from google and I just put them on top of the sea shell in a different layer. I used the paint brush tool to create the water color looking background. Then I added the lyrics to two of my favorite Of Mice & Men songs around the shell and logo using the text tool. I changed the opacity of the words to 60%. I also used the blur tool to kind of blur all of the background colors together.

When I was done with that one I wasn’t sure if I liked it that much so I made another one.

velcro-cupholder2

I got the heart image from google. I created the background to kind of look like an old, worn book page using the paint brush tool. I used 3 different colors for that. I used the blur tool on a very low opacity to blur the heart image a little with the background. Then I added the words to a Pierce the Veil song.

Today I continued working on chapter 27 of the Photoshop CC One-on-One: Advanced course on Lynda.com.

The first thing I did was open photoshop, then I went to the file pull down menu and selected browse in bridge. I selected the file named Canalboat.dng and pressed cmd+r to open it in camera raw.

Before:

Canal boat

I went to the panel fly out menu icon, chose apply snapshot, then current process 2012.

After:

Canal boatcp

I zoomed into the photo so I could have a close-up view of the face. I went to the lens corrections panel and selected the color tab, then turned on the remove chromatic aberration checkbox. I changed the purple amount slider’s value to 10.

After:

Canal boatca

I zoomed into to the left edge of the boat in the background. I clicked on the HSL/grayscale icon and made the Hue tab active. I selected the targeted adjustment tool and dragged to the left inside the blue until I got a blues value of -10 and a purple value of 0. I zoomed out a little and moved over so that the lady’s face was in view. With the targeted adjustment tool still selected I dragged down in the scarf until I reached a reds value of -10. I clicked on the luminance tab. I zoomed into the little blue boat in the background and dragged down until the blues value goes down to -20 and the auras value to 0.

Finished:

I clicked the luminance tab and dragged down on the sky in the image until the aquas value reached -35 and the blues value to 0.
