Today I made a poster of all of the projects I’ve done this year:

all projects

All I did was copy and paste each picture on then I used the free transform tool to resize them.

I also worked on a few ideas for the design Im going to put on the top of my graduation cap.

Here was one idea:

Here was the second:

And for this one I would also put fake flowers around the edges like this:

Favorite Work

I used the drawing tablet to create all of these projects.

I used 4 different layers and I used the pencil tool for the outline, then the paint brush tool for everything else. The main trick for creating the sky was adjusting the opacity of the paint brush constantly.

I usually start with drawing hair because its the easiest and funnest part for me. I used the paint brush tool for all of this while adjusting the size and opacity of the brush.

This is Austin Carlile from the band Of Mice & Men. He was my first realistic painting. I only worked in 4 layers and the hardest part of painting this was the tattoos.

I decided to paint Coraline near Halloween time. I worked in 5 layers with this one and my favorite part was making the background. All I used was the paint brush tool.

This is Fuzzy. I started with his face because that’s where I wanted the most detail. After working on the face and body of Fuzzy ,using the paintbrush and pencil tools, I worked on the background by using a grey brush with a very low opacity. I got the font from a website then changed the color to red and changed the size to how I liked it. Then I took the pencil tool and marked over the letters to make them messier.

This is Melanie Martinez, who is my favorite singer at the moment. I didn’t work in a lot of layers for this one but my favorite part was drawing the hair using the pencil and paintbrush tools. The hardest part of this was the face but it was a really fun and colorful project.

I used the paint brush, pencil, eraser, and blur tools to make this. For the shirt I got a galaxy image, copy and pasted underneath the girl outline, chose the quick selection tool and selected just the are of the shirt. I copied it, deleted the galaxy layer, then pressed cmd+v to paste the galaxy print into the shirt. I made the background using the same colors as the girls hair but at different opacities.

I painted all of this except the skulls I copied them from google, pasted, then transformed them.

Today we had an assigned project to complete. We made koozies, which is a fun word to say.

I decided to make an Of Mice & Men band koozie.

velcro-cupholder

I got the shell image from google. I also got the Of mice & Men logo and words from google and I just put them on top of the sea shell in a different layer. I used the paint brush tool to create the water color looking background. Then I added the lyrics to two of my favorite Of Mice & Men songs around the shell and logo using the text tool. I changed the opacity of the words to 60%. I also used the blur tool to kind of blur all of the background colors together.

When I was done with that one I wasn’t sure if I liked it that much so I made another one.

I got the heart image from google. I created the background to kind of look like an old, worn book page using the paint brush tool. I used 3 different colors for that. I used the blur tool on a very low opacity to blur the heart image a little with the background. Then I added the words to a Pierce the Veil song.

Today I finished the assigned project of the magazine cover. This magazine is called KERRANG! and its main focus is music, specifically rock/metal.

KERRANG MAGAZINE finished

This project was a lot of fun for me and I like how it turned out.

The first thing I did was search for a good background photo for the magazine. This one of Oli Sykes caught my eye and gave me the idea for all the paint splatter effects in the background. I found the polaroid picture frames on google, copied and pasted them, then added pictures of some of my favorite bands into them. This required a lot of resizing and rotating which I did using the free transform command. I got all of the fonts from dafont.com. I changed the color of the fonts to match the paint splatters.  I Got the Kerrang! logo from google. This was basically all about layers and learning how to navigate with them. I learned its important to name your layers so that its easier to rearrange things.

Today I worked on an assigned project. I made a cover photo for Facebook.

cover pic

First I went to the file pull down menu and opened a new document. I made the image 851px by 315px. Then I went on google and searched for a black 160px by 160px square. I copy and pasted that to the plain white background. I went to my Facebook and copy and pasted my profile picture. I Pressed command T to enter the free transform mode then scaled the photo to fit inside the black square. After that I went back to google and found a photo of the pink roses that I decided to use as the background. I lowered the opacity of the photo to 45%. Then I searched “Of Mice & Men pastel” and found the image with the flowers and mice. I copied and pasted that, scaled it, then I moved this layer below the background layer. I went to dafont.com and found  a font that I liked, then typed the lyrics to an Of Mice & Men song and changed the color of the text to pink.

Not the best but it was a lot of fun! I used the pencil tool to do the outline of him, then I used the paint brush tool to paint the colors in. I used the eraser tool quite often.

I also made a band poster:

I used the free transform tool to scale the individual band photos and I applied a black and white layer.

Today I started the Photoshop CC One-on-One Advanced course on Lynda.com. I worked on chapter 24. And I would just like to brag that I created a new page for this course and added it to my menu by myself today!

I copy and pasted the “tattoo” from Illustrator. I opened Adobe Illustrator, opened the Tiger tattoo image, I went to the select menu and chose ‘all’. Then I went to the edit menu and chose the copy command. I switched to photoshop and went to the edit menu and chose paste. I selected smart object and chose OK. I turned on the link icon in the options panel, changed the width to 50% and pressed enter a few times.

File number: 2336590

I selected the smart object layer, went to the layer panel fly out panel and selected convert to smart object. I went to the edit pull down menu and chose free transform. I changed the width to 64%, the height to 82%, and the angle value to 18 degrees. I clicked the warp icon in the options panel and chose custom. I adjusted the tiger so that it looked like it was contouring to the arm. I warped it several times until I got it how I liked it. I pressed enter a few times.

File number: 2336590

I double clicked in an empty portion of the tiger tattoo layer to open the layer style dialogue box. I pressed the option+drag the underlying layer slider to a value of 100/250. I changed the blend mode to multiply and clicked OK.  This blended the artwork into the skin.

File number: 2336590

I double clicked on the tiger tattoo thumbnail, went to the filter menu, chose gaussian blur and changed the radius to 4px. I double clicked on the little slider icon located in the  smart filter layer in the layers panel. I changed the mode to multiply and the opacity to 75%. I went to the image menu, chose the canvas size, and changed the width to 20px, the height to 20px and clicked OK. I clicked the save button, went to the edit menu and chose transform then warp and dragged the top of the flames up just a little. I pressed enter.

I did this edit at home last night:

omam

I got the flower image from google and change the opacity to 32%. I selected the text tool and typed the words “You’re not alone You’re with me” and ” Of Mice & Men”. I went to the layers panel and moved the text layer underneath the flower layer. I changed the opacity of the words to 65%. I found the Of Mice & Men symbol on google and pasted it. I used free transform to scale the circle to the right size. I also moved this layer underneath the flower layer. I changed the opacity to 65%. I drew the hands on a separate layer using the pencil tool and moved that layer behind the flower layer. I changed the opacity to 65%.
